Ultrasonic Cleaner

I really want Doll Chateau's Xaviera! However, I am just put off by the fact that she is $499 nude and only 23cm when Elizabeth is $480 nude and is 33cm tall! Anyway, moving on....
Xaviera is a true arachnid too, as she has eight legs instead of six like Elizabeth has. Oh well. I have purchased too many dolls this year, so I am trying to step away from purchasing and trying to focus on the ones I already own.

I am currently cleaning and restringing my first doll...for the second time. I am also trying to whiten her, but I honestly thing being able to whiten yellowed resin is a myth. You may be able to bleach colored pigment in the resin, but actually whitening a white doll...I don't know.
I had purchased an ultrasonic cleaner to clean my earring and glasses (work great for both) and got the bright idea it could work on a doll too! I think it works GREAT. I filled it with 91% alcohol, plopped some parts it and turned it on. Check this image out:

Can you see the line separating the clean part from the blue blushing? It's hard to see so I darkened the image a little bit. This is a white resin doll, but looks like it is normal skin because its under a yellow light that is SUPPOSED to be a "daylight" bulb. It's an incandescent bulb and not an LED bulb is probably why. The boobies in the background appear white! :p

I sealed the blushing with MSC, so it's defiantly getting the MSC off. I ran all the parts through several times just to be sure. I then ran them through a bath of dawn dish soap to get all the oils off and such before I started "whitening". I started to make a video, but the lighting under the lamp is horrendous so...I stopped.

I left one part out, which will be my control piece to compare too. I have been soaking the parts in an Oxy Clean/baking soda/peroxide mixture white coating the pieces themselves in Arm & Hammer Advanced White - Extreme Whitening - baking soda and peroxide toothpaste. Hoy crap that's a mouth full...or a finger full?

I had originally planned on using a Doll Chateau Colin head on this body for the character I am making, but I was sketching Li's head and trying to think of ideas for her when she blossomed into the character I was going to use Colin for. Ha, funny how that works. Instead, I will be using the Colin head for another character in this "series" which I got an idea for when sketching Li.

Sketches soooooon. Actually, maybe later because work takes up all my time. I can't wait until my new pens arrive so I can test out the magicalness!
