INCOMIN-EH? DOLL ARRIVAL!

Whoa, talk about lightning fast shipping!

I purchased an old Soom (Topaz) body from the DoA marketplace after someone answered my ad. The seller shipped the body the second my payment was confirmed! Before I could blink the doll had arrived.

This body is for my Soom Amber head and Coquina hooves. I am glad I can finally get rid of the highly undesirable Mirodoll body. Why did I ever think using the bodies for a hybrid was a good idea?

Mirodoll lovers, please skip the following paragraph.

I like the idea that their prices are super cheap, but you get what you pay for! Their sculpts are...very unpleasant for me to look at. Not to mention the jointing structure is so bad, it is extremely difficult to even get the dolls to stand, much less pose in any pose other than sitting limply in a chair. I also noticed their resin is quite...chalky? Does that make sense? Anyway, love the prices of Mirodoll but NOTHING else. Until they hire better sculptors, I will be avoiding them at all costs. I also had an issue with them after ordering, which you can read in a previous post.

Okay, back to the doll arrival.

I noticed this body had a very strange ankle joint. I don't know if this is a mistake from the previous owner as I did see they owned many Soom dolls, but the body arrived with two right ankle joints. I also noticed that one of these joints had a really shallow...fuzzy...faded "R" while the other joint was crisp and clean.

I also noticed that the doll has some very horrible seams. They are not double seams, but just very prominent. I have never owned any other pre-2012 super gem body, so I have nothing to reference in a case like this. There was no certificate. The box provided was for a different Soom doll they had as the sticky note on it read "Galena".

The company blushed Coquina hooves fit great though! The only thing I noticed is that the knees of the human body are a bit more square at the top an the fantasy hooves are a bit more round and pointy?

In any case, the hooves fit better than a crap mob job on a doll that can't even stand. *spits*

I paid about $200 for the body, which included insured priority shipping. The elbow had a small chip as well. Including fees and shipping, the seller ended up with about $158.80.

I think Soom should have made the new bodies compatible with the old legs. I really want to use the new body with the mobility parts, but the legs just DON'T fit. I did receive the clear orange Topaz parts with the old body so maybe I will use those with it (if they fit), since no one is buying the new body I have.

Or maybe I will sell them...I don't know yet.

Close up of the knees. You can kind of see the shape difference.

SAME DAY UPDATE: I just cleaned all the paint off the chest piece and APPARENTLY, this doll has a modded neck. That was NOT discussed! I am a little mad about this! From what I can see, they just made the neck longer. I like long necks, so that is fine. I checked to see if my Amber head still fit, which it does, so that's fine too. However, this should have been discussed! I would NOT have paid as much as I did for this doll knowing what I know now. Lesson learned.
