My BJD Brainrot

THE DOLL BLOG NOBODY ASKED FOR
Welcome to the blog, a chaotic archive of doll ramblings, art struggles, collecting disasters, customization experiments, and whatever financial mistakes I've convinced myself are "self-care." I ramble about BJDs, review them, attempt to customize them, and occasionally have an emotional meltdown. Think of this blog as a chaotic diary made by someone who keeps buying dolls despite having no space, no restraint, and no intention of stopping. If you’re here for structure or stability, you took a wrong turn. Enjoy the chaos.
Note: Some of the blog posts are blank. I am slowly but surely fixing them. There are a lot, so it takes time.

Xianyu Marketplace Haul: Blind Boxes, Art Models, and Rare BJD Heads

Online marketplaces can be unpredictable places. Sometimes you search for one specific item and leave empty-handed. Other times, you blink, and suddenly several packages are on their way to your house.

This haul came entirely (almost) from Xianyu, a marketplace that can be both a goldmine and a chaotic treasure hunt depending on the day.

In this post, I’ll walk through everything I picked up, from blind box figures to anatomy models to a pair of BJD heads that required some serious searching.

Limited Valentine Figure from the Together with Loong Series

Picture
This first package is actually a blind box figure from a series I’ve been collecting called Together with Loong. The full official name of the series is absurdly long, so we’re just going to stick with that shortened version before my brain gives up.

This one is a limited Valentine release.

From what I can tell, there are either two or three versions of this figure. There is this blue one, but it's pink version, and I swear at one point I saw a pink version of the hidden figure floating around online. The problem is, I can’t find that image again anywhere, which means one of two things happened.

Either it exists and I’m bad at searching… Or I hallucinated a collectible figure while scrolling the internet at 3 AM. Both options are very possible.

There are also two other sets in this line called the Midnight Series and the Daytime Series that I would love to collect. I actually found complete sets on Xianyu.

Unfortunately, the sellers want about $600 for each set. Which means if I bought both, it would be $1200 for blind box figures. And I’m sorry… I may be a collector, but I am not that level of insane.

So there is a very real possibility I will never complete those sets, which is tragic, but my wallet has filed a formal complaint.

Valentine Versions. Not sure where these were sold. Maybe an event.

Poseable Anatomy Models for Art

The next items in this haul are posable models. Some people call them action figures, some call them artist mannequins.

The reason I bought these is because I am trying to get back into art after not really drawing seriously for over a decade. I wanted a few different body types and proportions that I could use as reference while practicing anatomy.

Now obviously these are not realistic anatomy. They are very stylized and kind of comic-book proportioned. But they’re still useful for things like gesture drawing, posing, and general body positioning.

One thing I always find funny though is that with these male figures, the manufacturers often make their heads absolutely tiny. Like… sir. Where did your skull go? Did you lose it somewhere between the shoulders and the biceps?

Interestingly, I purchased these figures from Taobao instead of Xianyu.
The reason was simple: the price difference between used and new was almost nonexistent. Buying new also eliminated the risk of damaged joints, incomplete accessory sets, scams, and service fees from Xianyu agents.

One unexpected discovery during this haul was a box containing optional anatomy parts for one of the models.

Yes, manufacturers apparently decided that artists and collectors needed additional customization options.

It’s certainly… a design choice.

Comparing Some of My Other Art Model Figures

I actually own a few other poseable model figures that I’ve collected over the years. Unfortunately… some of them are not exactly great quality. In fact, I’m pretty sure a few of them are knock-offs of knock-offs.

The figures on the left (the deluxe set ones) are 100% legitimate, and you can absolutely tell the difference in quality. The plastic feels solid, the joints work well, and the proportions are intentionally manga-style, which makes them great for stylized pose reference.

The figures in the middle, however… I’m not so sure about. I think they might be legitimate, but I honestly can’t remember where I bought them. What I do remember is noticing that the proportions are a little questionable. For example, her hands are unbelievably tiny. Like… “what happened here?” tiny.

Then we get to the figma-style figures on the right, which are easily the worst of the bunch. Their proportions are slightly more realistic, but they practically fall apart the moment you pick them up. On top of that, the arm proportions are bizarre.

At certain angles, her arms look almost bigger than her head, which is… an interesting design choice. That said, I think I only paid about $10 total for both of them, not each. Both.

So I suppose I got exactly what I paid for.

Blind Box BJD Bodies

Picture
Another category of items I picked up were blind box BJD bodies.

These are smaller stylized ball-jointed dolls that often come with unique proportions or fantasy features.

Secret Realm Pilgrimage Body:
The first body from this series immediately caught my attention because of its carrot-shaped legs and elf ears.

It also features movable feet, which are not always present in carrot-legged blind box BJDs.

Poem in a Box Asymptomatic Body

The next body is from the Poem in a Box Asymptomatic series, and it also has the carrot-leg design.

However, this one surprised me because it is actually wired internally. I did not expect that at all. So the posing is much more stable than the previous body.

These blind box BJDs also come with a lot of extra parts and accessories, and honestly I don’t need most of them. So I listed the extra pieces on Mercari and eBay because I figured someone else might want them.

And if I can recover some of the cost, that’s always nice.

Resin BJD Head – Sicang / Terakura Aha

Now we’re getting into the resin BJD heads.

This first one is the Aha head by Sicang, sometimes also associated with Terakura.

This is a sculpt that I have been looking for for quite a while.

Most of the listings I’ve seen for this head were around $200, mainly because the sculpt is no longer produced.

But somehow I managed to find this one on Xianyu for around $60, and it even came with the original box and the certificate of authenticity.

So that was an absolutely fantastic deal. Sometimes the marketplace gods smile upon you. And sometimes they just laugh and take your money. This time they were feeling generous.

The Mystery of the Cursed Fox Head

The final head in this haul is the one that caused the most confusion. I actually wrote an entire blog post about trying to figure out the history of this sculpt, because the information online is extremely inconsistent.

Originally I wanted the SD size version of this head. I actually purchased one on Xianyu, but the seller later claimed it had already been sold. Which was interesting, because shortly after that, three new listings appeared using the exact same photos all from the same seller. So that was… suspicious.

Instead I ended up finding an MSD sized version and decided to try again. And this time it actually arrived.

From what I have been able to piece together, the sculpt is called Cursed Fox, and it was created by an individual artist.

At some point the casting rights were given to a group called CP Group, which is why you see their name associated with the head.

However, some of the information I found does not match other sources, and I could not find any evidence that these heads ever came with certificates of authenticity.

So the true history of this sculpt is still kind of a mystery. Which honestly feels very appropriate for a head called Cursed Fox.

Final Thoughts

This haul ended up being an interesting mix of collectibles and practical tools.

Between the blind box figures, anatomy models, and rare BJD heads, each item served a slightly different purpose.

Some pieces will become part of my collection, while others will help with art practice and anatomical study.

And of course, a few accessories have already found their way onto Mercari and eBay for resale.

Such is the circle of collecting.
