My BJD Brainrot

THE DOLL BLOG NOBODY ASKED FOR
Welcome to the blog, a chaotic archive of doll ramblings, art struggles, collecting disasters, customization experiments, and whatever financial mistakes I've convinced myself are "self-care." I ramble about BJDs, review them, attempt to customize them, and occasionally have an emotional meltdown. Think of this blog as a chaotic diary made by someone who keeps buying dolls despite having no space, no restraint, and no intention of stopping. If you’re here for structure or stability, you took a wrong turn. Enjoy the chaos.
Note: Some of the blog posts are blank. I am slowly but surely fixing them. There are a lot, so it takes time.

Hunting for YEARS… The Six-Eyed Spirit Fetus Head "Spider" Returns!

If you’ve been in the ball-jointed doll hobby long enough, you eventually develop a list of “grails”; those impossible-to-find sculpts that either never appear secondhand, or when they do, they’re priced like rare artifacts smuggled out of a cursed temple.

For me, one of those grails has always been the Spirit Fetus Spider head in MSD size. A beautifully weird sculpt featuring six eyes, uncanny proportions, and that signature macabre charm Spirit Fetus is known for. I’ve wanted this head in both MSD and SD sizes for years, but they were basically extinct on the marketplace.

Then, like some eldritch miracle, the artist announced a new casting batch. Naturally, I acted like a Victorian child hearing candy was being handed out and immediately bought one. No hesitation. No remorse. My wallet cried, but it doesn’t get a vote.

So here we are, unboxing one of my most anticipated macabre BJDs ever.

Unboxing the Spider Head

The box arrived looking innocent, which is always a lie. Inside, the head was wrapped safely like the precious nightmare creature it is.

Pulling it out for the first time, I had that surreal moment where you think, “Oh, so this is where my money went.”

But immediately followed with:
“Worth it.”

Who Is Spirit Fetus?
If you’re new to the darker side of the BJD hobby, Spirit Fetus is an independent sculptor known for eerie, uncanny designs. They specialize in heads that look like they crawled out of a haunted forest, a forgotten myth, or a fever dream you didn’t ask for.

Their sculpts are:
  • Unsettling in the best way
  • Rarely available

The Spider head in particular is one of the most iconic; six eyes arranged in a strange, almost calm expression. It’s not “monster.” It’s not “human.” It’s something in-between, staring into your soul and judging your life choices. Relatable.

Comparing Spider to Soapberry B

I also own another Spirit Fetus sculpt: Soapberry B, a rotting, zombie-esque head with textured decayed flesh.

Spider and Soapberry B make a fantastic duo—one looks like it crawls through forests silently watching you, and the other looks like it crawls through graveyards quietly complaining about it.

Where Spider feels smooth, eerie, and almost serene, Soapberry B is gritty, raw, and delightfully decomposed. Spirit Fetus really said, “Pick your flavor of nightmare.”

Naturally, I picked both.

Final Thoughts
The Spirit Fetus Spider head is everything I hoped for: rare, weird, unsettling, and beautifully crafted. It's the perfect addition to my growing army of macabre art dolls who silently watch me. Well, they would if they weren't all confined to their boxes.

If you love fantasy BJDs, creepy BJDs, horror aesthetics, or anything that looks like it might haunt a dream or two, this sculpt deserves your attention.

Six eyes. Zero regrets.

Future Plans

Spider is definitely getting a faceup that leans into the uncanny. I’m tempted to go either:
  • Smooth and ethereal, like an ancient creature awakened; or
  • Mildly cursed, like something that whispers weird things at 3 AM but means well.

I think I will be using a Doll Leaves boy body. I haven't decided yet. I have many bodies incoming....

And yes, the moment the SD version is re-released, I will be throwing myself at that purchase button with absolutely no dignity.
