My BJD Brainrot

THE DOLL BLOG NOBODY ASKED FOR
Welcome to the blog, a chaotic archive of doll ramblings, art struggles, collecting disasters, customization experiments, and whatever financial mistakes I've convinced myself are "self-care." I ramble about BJDs, review them, attempt to customize them, and occasionally have an emotional meltdown. Think of this blog as a chaotic diary made by someone who keeps buying dolls despite having no space, no restraint, and no intention of stopping. If you’re here for structure or stability, you took a wrong turn. Enjoy the chaos.
Note: Some of the blog posts are blank. I am slowly but surely fixing them. There are a lot, so it takes time.

Ringdoll Baldwin IV Unboxing: White Resin, Yellow Regret, and Apocalypse Aesthetics

There are few things in life more humbling than a mystery-stained shipping box arriving at your doorstep. This one looked like it had survived several warehouses, a minor crusade, and at least one forklift-related incident. Naturally, I wiped it down before opening it, because inside was a white resin doll, and I value my sanity.

Welcome to my unboxing of Ringdoll’s Baldwin IV of Jerusalem, also known as the Leper King, also known as “why did you choose white resin again.”

🧼 The Ritual Cleansing of the Box

Picture
Before we even get to the doll, we must address the grime. This package was FILTHY. Not “light dusting” filthy. Warehouse-soaked, fingerprint-of-the-damned filthy.

I wiped one side. Then the other. Then realized I should have wiped my hands too, because the doll inside is WHITE. And yes, I did manage to smear box filth onto pristine resin like an absolute professional.

Let me clarify now, for the comments:
The grime came from the box. I am not feral.

⚔️ First Impressions: Ringdoll Did Not Used to Impress Me

Historically, I wasn’t a huge Ringdoll fan. Many of their older sculpts blurred together for me, leaning heavily into a similar ancient Chinese aesthetic. Beautiful, yes. Personally compelling to me? Not really.

And then they released Baldwin IV.

Suddenly, Ringdoll had my attention. Medieval. Tragic. Sickly king energy. Historical doom chic. This is the kind of doll that looks like he’s about to cough dramatically into a silk handkerchief and deliver a monologue about fate.

🤍 White Resin: A Decision I Will Regret Publicly

I ordered Baldwin in white resin. Let’s talk about that.
White resin is gorgeous. Ethereal. Angelic. It also ages like milk left in the sun. This doll will turn yellow. Not might. Will.

I own a 12-year-old white Resinsoul Li who now looks like he’s been chain smoking since 2012. No amount of baking soda, whitening toothpaste, or whispered prayers will reverse resin yellowing. That’s cope. Sanding or blushing are your only real options.

So yes. I am aware. I chose this path.

🩲 Unwrapping the Doll (Briefly NSFW, Then Mercifully Not)

Picture
Out of the wrapping he comes. Undies removed for inspection and then immediately put back on, because no one needs to stare at a resin dick for twelve uninterrupted minutes (in the unboxing video).

He is wired, which is increasingly common and very appreciated. The sculpt detail is sharp, the proportions are elegant, and he poses like someone who’s about to lead an army or emotionally collapse in a cathedral.

Also. Yes.
Magnetic anatomy.
Technology marches on.

🛡️ The Armor Situation (AKA: Where Is the Chest Piece?)

Picture
This image is from Ringdoll's website.
Now let’s talk about the armor.

I fully believed this doll would arrive with all armor pieces included. Reader, it did not. Every piece was there except the chest armor. The ONE piece that makes the whole look work. 😑

So now I am officially ISO SD-sized chest armor, haunting marketplaces like a medieval raccoon. 🦝

Also unexpected: the armor is painted. I assumed plain white resin and honestly would have preferred it. Painted armor means I am now afraid to touch anything too confidently.

The sword is slightly curved, which bothers me in a quiet, internal screaming way. I may try gently heating it to straighten it, but if I ruin it, I will simply lie and say I like it that way. 🥲

☠️ Apocalypse Aesthetics (But Make It Secular)

A quick note before anyone gets confused: I am not religious. I am an atheist. I like the fantasy and visual aesthetic, not the theology.

Ringdoll’s Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse line has completely hijacked my brain. The designs are dramatic, grim, and unapologetically intense. End-of-days couture. Medieval doom vibes. Exactly my thing.

If you unsubscribed when I said “atheist,” that’s fine. For everyone else, welcome. We can coexist in the comments. 🤡

🧠 Final Thoughts: Would I Buy Him Again?

Despite the white resin anxiety, the missing chest armor, and my growing fear of yellowing, this doll is stunning. The sculpt is strong, the posing is excellent, and Ringdoll has officially gone from "not for me" to "please stop releasing things I want."

I also have more Ringdoll dolls incoming, so this will not be the last time I complain lovingly about this brand.

Fun fact to close this out:
This doll arrived before Legend Doll even gave me a tracking number.
He simply appeared. A surprise apocalypse king.
