My BJD Brainrot

THE DOLL BLOG NOBODY ASKED FOR
Welcome to the blog, a chaotic archive of doll ramblings, art struggles, collecting disasters, customization experiments, and whatever financial mistakes I've convinced myself are "self-care." I ramble about BJDs, review them, attempt to customize them, and occasionally have an emotional meltdown. Think of this blog as a chaotic diary made by someone who keeps buying dolls despite having no space, no restraint, and no intention of stopping. If you’re here for structure or stability, you took a wrong turn. Enjoy the chaos.
Note: Some of the blog posts are blank. I am slowly but surely fixing them. There are a lot, so it takes time.

Fantasy Shape Studio Antares Head & Horns Unboxing and Review

Today I’m finally opening the Fantasy Shape Studio Antares head and horns, which are designed to go with the four-armed bust stand I previously unboxed.

Yes. Four arms.

Because clearly two arms simply weren’t dramatic enough.

I originally ordered the bust stand first, and while I should have ordered the Antares head at the same time, I thankfully managed to catch the preorder before it closed.

The set was ordered through Dolce Luce Dolls, which was my first experience purchasing from them.

Ordering from Dolce Luce Dolls

My experience ordering through Dolce Luce was actually quite positive in terms of communication.

They responded quickly to my questions and were very friendly throughout the process.

However, I will admit that their website is… an adventure.

The layout relies heavily on endless scrolling and feels somewhat disorganized, which can make it difficult to navigate specific products. Personally, I would love to see a more structured format with clear product categories and individual product pages.

Still, despite the website chaos, the ordering experience itself went smoothly.

The Horn Shipping Warning

Before shipping, Dolce Luce actually warned me about something interesting.

Apparently, other collectors had reported their horns arriving broken, which prompted them to recommend that I record a box opening video in case there were any issues.

As if I needed an excuse to film another doll unboxing.

Fortunately, the horns arrived intact.

Which is honestly surprising considering the packaging.

Packaging… or Lack Thereof

The horns were packed using cotton stuffing that looked more decorative than protective, which made me a little nervous when opening the package.

Despite that, the horns somehow survived the journey perfectly fine.

Sometimes the shipping gods are feeling generous.

3D Printing Quality

The horns are 3D printed, and when ordering I chose the rough sanding option.

This version is cheaper than the polished option, and I expected to see visible printing layers because of that.

Interestingly enough, the horns looked quite smooth even with the rough sanding option. The print lines were barely noticeable and were, in fact, not present!

That honestly made me curious about what the fully polished version looks like.

The Mystery of the Broken Tracking

One odd thing about the shipment was the tracking.

The horns actually arrived about a week later than the head, and during that entire time the tracking never worked for me.

Dolce Luce was able to view the tracking on their end without any problems, but every tracking site I tried showed nothing at all.

Eventually, the horns simply appeared at my door like mysterious goat relics.

Installing the Horns (A Struggle)

Picture
Attaching the horns turned out to be the most challenging part of this entire process.

You will see in the video that I struggled quite a bit trying to get them into place.

Parts were dropped.
Horns were dropped.
My patience was also dropped.

Multiple times.

Somehow, nothing broke during the process, which honestly feels like a miracle.

Why the Horns Wouldn’t Stay

After fighting with them for a while, I started to suspect the horns were designed to sit on top of a wig rather than directly on the head.

This would explain why they felt slightly loose when attaching them directly to the resin head.

Eventually I reached my highly technical solution.

Tape.

Not glamorous, but effective.

Final Thoughts on the Antares Set

Despite the horn installation struggle, I really love the design of the Antares head paired with the four-armed bust stand.

Fantasy Shape Studio creates some incredibly unique sculptural designs, and this piece definitely falls into the category of dramatic display pieces rather than traditional dolls.

And honestly, anything with four arms and giant horns deserves at least a little bit of chaos.
