My BJD Brainrot

THE DOLL BLOG NOBODY ASKED FOR
Welcome to the blog, a chaotic archive of doll ramblings, art struggles, collecting disasters, customization experiments, and whatever financial mistakes I've convinced myself are "self-care." I ramble about BJDs, review them, attempt to customize them, and occasionally have an emotional meltdown. Think of this blog as a chaotic diary made by someone who keeps buying dolls despite having no space, no restraint, and no intention of stopping. If you’re here for structure or stability, you took a wrong turn. Enjoy the chaos.
Note: Some of the blog posts are blank. I am slowly but surely fixing them. There are a lot, so it takes time.

Floppy Toes Duck Butt and Magnets: Dream Valley Milien - Twin Birds (Harpy)

Another day, another doll arrives to ruin my bank account, but this time she’s worth it. Say hello to Milien – Twin Birds, a Dream Valley harpy-like BJD in normal resin. I opted for this color because, unlike white resin, it won’t yellow faster than milk left out in July.

The Box: Surprisingly Intact

The box actually survived shipping without resembling a crime scene, which is suspicious. Fingers crossed the doll inside is just as unscathed. If not… well, I have a dark sense of humor and a hammer.

Why I Bought Her: Bird Obsession Activated

As a lifelong anthro-doll enthusiast, Milien scratches the itch that Nirvana Phoenix left behind. Nirvana had those glorious jointed bird claw feet but cursed belt wings. Crow guy had decent arm wings but disappointing feet. Milien, however, nails it: large claws, proper wings, even a duck butt (honorary Australian Shepherd status).

Feet & Standability

These feet are larger than Nirvana’s and fully clawed, perfect for intimidation. Downsides? The toes bend easily, so she can't stand without a doll stand unless you wire them stiff. Floppy toes, anyone?

Tail & Feather Details

Her tail uses screws like the Crow guy, and yes, some feathers arrived flipped. I’ll adjust them, hoping the resin doesn’t strip and ruin screw tension. Unlike recycled parts, Dream Valley added a bit of originality: slightly larger feather wings, unique feather shapes, and a distinctive tail.

Magnets, Headband, and Headdress

The headband seems to belong to the bird mask, with magnets to attach it. The feather headdress already has magnets, but the pieces stick together awkwardly. Basically, it’s a tiny DIY nightmare wrapped in beauty.

Leg & Arm Joints

The new rubber band on magnetic arms is possibly a fix for complaints about weak magnets. Personally, I never had that problem. Leg joints are stiff due to feather sculpting, and bending them requires two hands and a small prayer.

Overall Impression

I love her. She’s a creepy, birdy masterpiece and may be my last doll for a little while. Shipping prices have doubled since my last order...from $80 for a giant snake doll to $160 for a smaller BJD. The warehouse in China is basically holding one of my other dolls hostage until I pay the ransom.

Until then, I’ll enjoy Milien perched elegantly on her stand, judging me quietly as only a harpy can.
