My BJD Brainrot

THE DOLL BLOG NOBODY ASKED FOR
Welcome to the blog, a chaotic archive of doll ramblings, art struggles, collecting disasters, customization experiments, and whatever financial mistakes I've convinced myself are "self-care." I ramble about BJDs, review them, attempt to customize them, and occasionally have an emotional meltdown. Think of this blog as a chaotic diary made by someone who keeps buying dolls despite having no space, no restraint, and no intention of stopping. If you’re here for structure or stability, you took a wrong turn. Enjoy the chaos.

Pre-loved Doll Unboxing: Doll Family-A MSD Body in Chocolate Resin!

I was minding my own business on Den of Angels when I saw a doll body that immediately whispered, "I belong to your floating island head." Naturally, I did the responsible thing and threw money at it. Welcome back to another episode of Shut Up and Take My Money, where my wallet suffers so my dolls may thrive.

This time, I picked up a pre-loved Doll Family-A MSD body in Chocolate resin. Buying second-hand BJDs is one of my favorite things because a) they’re usually cheaper and b) they arrive much faster. In this case, the doll shipped from one state over and showed up within days. Instant gratification, achieved.

The Box Incident (Not the Doll)

Let’s get this out of the way early: the doll itself arrived in perfect condition. The box, however, looked like it had lived a full and difficult life. Slightly moldy-looking, structurally questionable, and ready to disintegrate at the lightest touch. Could this have been a shipping issue? A storage mishap? A quiet curse placed upon cardboard? The world may never know.

Thankfully, the resin survived unscathed. Honestly, the doll was sturdier than the box it came in.

My History With DFA (and Mermaids)

This is actually my second Doll Family-A doll. My first was a merman, which I eventually sold because the tail shape just didn’t sit right with me. Beautiful sculpt, just not my personal vibe. Well, I loved the vibe...just the tail didn't sit right with me.

Speaking of aquatic temptations, I recently saw a teaser for a DollZone mermaid, and I am… cautiously curious. I was hoping for something buff, DFA-style, but judging by the silhouette, it looks more like a thin dude or possibly a lady. We’ll see how that unfolds.

Color, Pose, and First Impressions

Picture
The head color match is quite good overall. The neck opening on the head is a little small, but nothing unmanageable. I can likely disguise it with a wig or a high-collar look. Sanding is technically an option, but darker resin has a bad habit of turning white when sanded, or revealing that the color only exists near the surface. Resin science is cruel like that.

So for now, I’ll work with styling choices instead of power tools.

The Missing CoA (A Minor Side Quest)

Picture
On a final note, the seller initially forgot to include the Certificate of Authenticity. I reached out, they located it, and it should be on its way to me soon. An honest oversight and an easy fix, thankfully. Spoiler, it arrived safe and sound!

Final Thoughts

Picture
Despite the dramatic cardboard failure, I’m very happy with this purchase. The doll is solid, the color is gorgeous, and my floating island head finally has a worthy body. Sometimes second-hand doll buying is a gamble—but when it works, it really works.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be over here trying not to buy another doll I absolutely do not need.

Fun fact: this particular hybrid and resin combo is immortalized on Dollfinder, for science.
